WFTM in Cadiz, Spain

Dear Fellow Music Therapists,

The WFMT Council met for the 2010 Annual Meeting in Cadiz, Spain last month. During our marathon meeting, each attending officer, commissioner, and regional liaison gave a report. We also reviewed the progress of our seven work groups and established two additional ones, planned forthcoming 25. Anniversary events, and discussed details of the 2011 World Congress of Music Therapy, which will be held in Seoul, Korea.

As our meeting took place at the 8. European Congress of Music Therapy, we had the chance to meet with the EMTC President Dr. Jos DeBaker (Belgium) and congratulate incoming EMTC President Dr. Hanne-Mette Ridder (Denmark) and her core group to the election.

Our WFMT Symposium on “Music Therapy Worldwide: Exploring Trends and Challenges in Research, Practice, and Education” was well received and invited for sharing of ideas and new project with many colleagues.

With a Cocktail Party and passionate Flamenco music at La Canela, we celebrated the 25. Anniversary of WFMT with music therapists from Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, UK, and the U.S.A. It was an evening of fun, laughter, connections, and music.
