COMMISSION
COMMISSION
GLOBAL CRISES INTERVENTION
Vision Statement
The Global Crises Intervention Commission seeks to support the needs of music therapists affected by or responding to crises—both natural and human-made—across the world that result in trauma stress. The Commission facilitates communication, coordination of services, and training among music therapists and maintains a collection of materials and information to use during current or on-going disasters or traumatic situations.
Goals
•To maintain on the WFMT website a list of projects and contacts related to natural and human-made disasters or other on-going traumatic events according to type and WFMT region. Use the list to network people working with similar events;
•To maintain lists of music therapy contacts and other professionals involved in trauma research, disaster work, and other trauma-related work;
•To maintain a bibliography related to trauma stress, crisis intervention, and music therapy;
•To establish a social networking presence for the Global Crises Intervention Commission that is associated with the WFMT, initially to moderate discussions among music therapists responding to or affected by disasters or trauma-related event;
•To establish a disaster relief fund within the WFMT;
•To develop written materials that may help music therapists respond to disasters and other traumatic events;
•To aid the communication, coordination of services, and training of music therapists responding to the needs of people affected by disasters.
