During the Opening Ceremony of the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy, a world map was displayed that did not include Latin America and the Caribbean. This was a mistake, and it should not have happened.
As the WCMT2026 Congress Organizers, on behalf of the World Federation of Music Therapy, we sincerely apologize to everyone who felt unseen or misrepresented.
The omission was unintentional, but we fully recognize its impact. The correct map was presented during the Congress the following day, and today we are sharing it again because it reflects the values we believe in: a global music therapy community where every country, every region, every culture and every voice matters.
The Congress was a success because of the richness of its diversity. We are grateful to our colleagues from Latin America and the Caribbean, and from every part of the world, for their invaluable contributions, their expertise and their presence.
We remain committed to listening, learning and ensuring that our future actions reflect our shared values.
