It was exciting to share the very first World Music Therapy Day on 5th July! WFMT has planted a seed that promises to grow into a fabulous annual world-wide celebration! At my workplace, I was fortunate to be able to host a celebration with multi-instrumentalist Adam Page (check him out on YouTube!), along with a film crew from ABC TV. Adam was truly inspirational in engaging people with mental health issues and visitors in an improvisation workshop using loop pedals, including blissful ambient loops and funky rhythms for dancing!Have you ever been to a ‘hui’? Anyone with an interest in music therapy is welcome at a one day hui (gathering) on 2oth August 2016 in Auckland, run by Music Therapy New Zealand. The day includes lunch, a music making session and presentations from Heather Fletcher, Carolyn Ayson, Opeloge Ah Sam and the Music Moves Me Trust. This will be followed by a one day course on 21 August: Holding, playing and exploring: Music and action based strategies for self-reflection and supervision. While it is the depth of winter here in the southern hemisphere, we are already warming up to the Australian National Conference in Melbourne this September. We are looking forward to welcoming wonderful keynote speakers Daphne Rickson from New Zealand and Dr Randi Rolvsjord from Norway. Please join us down under if you can!Ms. Jeanette Milford, AustraliaWFMT Regional Liaison, Australia/New ZealandSave
