What a joy it was to meet so many of you in Krems during the 2014 World Congress of Music Therapy in July. Your enthusiasm for global music therapy was infectious, and we are looking forward to continued partnership with you as we begin a new term of leadership, implementing our first Strategic Plan.During the World Congress, we had the pleasure of honoring five distinguished colleagues for their work in the profession:

Ruth Bright

Dr. Ruth Bright received the Lifetime Membership Award for her tireless devotion to the field of music therapy

Dr. Jayne Standley_Research Award 2014

Dr. Jayne Standley received the Research & Special Projects Award for significant contribution to the development of the profession through a specific research study or scholarly project.

Dr. Amelia Oldfiled_Clinical Impact Award 2014

Dr. Amelia Oldfield received the Clinical Impact Award for long-term impact on advancing the knowledge and practice of music therapy within a specific clinical area of population through the publication or presentation of the work.

Dr. Sumathy Sundar_Advocate of MT Award 2014

Dr. Sumathy Sundar received the Advocate of Music Therapy Award for major contributions to the promotion of music therapy in an area of the world where the profession is less established.

Dr. Petra Kern_Service Award 2014

Dr. Petra Kern received the Service Award for providing significant service to the profession of music therapy through work related to the World Federation, supporting the growth of WFMT.

Congratulations to each of these deserving colleagues for their accomplishments, and a special thanks to each of them for sharing wisdom with us during the WCMT Opening Ceremony.
