Connection in the time of Corona

With the global pandemic forcing everyone into their homes and into an experience of shared solitude, we have all been compelled to find new ways of continuing with ‘normal’ life. During this time, music therapy students have had to learn to adapt to new restrictions to continue to advance their profession and their personal development, as well as to find creative ways of staying connected.

In South Africa, the 1st and 2nd year Masters of Music Therapy students (University of Pretoria) have created a fun video of themselves practicing their clinical skills in lockdown. The video, set to UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Angélique Kidjo’s (2020) COVID-19 version of Miriam Makeba’s “Pata Pata”, can be found here: https://youtu.be/tdX-QjdwKRk

We would like to invite other student groups from around the world to put together your own videos showing how you are staying connected and working on your skills during this time. Please feel free share your projects to the WFMT students Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2441473419412119/), and let’s see how many connections we can make.

Stay safe!
