Between 5-9th May 2010, the European Music Therapy Confederation hosted the 13th European Music Therapy Conference in Cadiz, Spain. The city was a beautifully fitting venue, and the city steeped in tradition and cultures over the centuries opened it's heart to the music therapists of the world who traveled through the ancient city walls.
In the warm welcome of the organizers and hosts, the conference was once again an excellent showcase of the scope and range of contemporary practices in clinical, research and educational work of music therapists. There was much material for thought and reflection, challenges and inspiration, and many of the presenters reminded of the heritage of the diversity of music therapy endeavors during the past decades.
During the conference, the WFMT Council presented a seminar paper on perspectives of music therapy from around the world. The WFMT Cocktail Party was a joyous and fun event honored with fantastic contemporary Spanish music and a spirit of being together for a shared purpose.
At the conclusion of this very successful conference it was announced that the next European Music Therapy Conference will be in Oslo, Norway. It would be wonderful to see you there!
