Vienna Sa

Hello, I’m Vienna Sa, and I’m the WFMT Student Delegate for North America. There are many different events happening currently in North America! One of the events I attended was held in Rochester, NY from June 15-17, 2016. The Innovations in Interprofessional Collaboration: Individual, Community, and Global Engagement Conference in the York Wellness & Rehabilitation Institute of Nazareth College discussed how different modalities, such as art and music therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, public health, social work, and speech-language pathology collaborate to better address the client’s needs. The event assisted professionals in learning how to not only design and implement strategies in professional practice, but also to support and advocate about interprofessional collaboration, education, and practice. This will be further discussed in a Window to the World post next month. There is another event quickly approaching [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent="yes" overflow="visible"][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" background_position="left top" background_color="" border_size="" border_color="" border_style="solid" spacing="yes" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" padding="" margin_top="0px" margin_bottom="0px" class="" id="" animation_type="" animation_speed="0.3" animation_direction="left" hide_on_mobile="no" center_content="no" min_height="none"][at the time of writing] in New York City at New York University (NYU) on June 25, 2016. The NYU Music Therapy Program and the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy will present the Second Clive Robbins Music Therapy Research Symposium on Neurodiversity, Music Therapy, and the Autism Spectrum. This symposium will explore how music therapy for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder can be implemented and researched in ways that reflect the transformation in the Autism community. It will be centered on notions such as neurodiversity, empowerment, and self-advocacy.The annual American Music Therapy Association Conference will next be held in Sandusky, OH, November 10-13, 2016. The theme this year is “Under the Canopy: The Music Therapy Profession”. This conference is where music is experienced together with like-minded, passionate individuals who push each other to a higher level. There are people and presenters from all over the world who come and attend this conference. Sessions include teaching new music therapy techniques, information about how to address a certain population, and self-care; much more can be found at this annual music therapy conference.I highly encourage anyone in North America to make it out to these events! Keep an eye on the WFMT Global Calendar for information about the Canadian Association for Music Therapy’s next annual conference.Vienna Sa, USAWFMT Student Delegate for North America[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
