The World Congress of Music Therapy in Krems, Austria has been cemented as a special experience for me during my current student journey. To be able to observe, learn and reflect on the vitality and knowledge generously shared by many renowned and upcoming contributors within the global music therapy community was an experience that I felt humbled to be a part of, which I wish to share with other students. Before leaving, I anticipated learning about music therapy practices from different parts of the world, but it was a surprising discovery for me to come back not only with this knowledge but also with a stronger understanding of how the Australian music therapy community fits within the global context of music therapy. It was surreal to meet my music therapy idols in person and to find that they were so accessible while equally demonstrating genuine interest in finding out about my experiences as a music therapy student. It was also enjoyable to discuss and share similarities and differences between music therapy approaches with other students from around the world. The first joint WFMT Assembly of Student Delegates meeting was also held at the congress, and I am pleased to report that there are exciting projects developing from the collaboration of the student delegates, which will emerge in the near future. I feel privileged to be part of this assembly, while having the honour of representing Australian and New Zealand students.Irene SandjajaWFMT Australia/New Zealand Student Delegate
