To all of you celebrating the beginning of a New Year, I send out my warmest greetings.

Certainly many changes occur between December and January throughout the World. Within Europe, one example of this is the end of the French Presidency of the European Union with President Sarkozy on 31 December 2008. In the European Parliament at the end of December, the Presidency was debated and it was discussed how the issues that occurred during the Presidency were handled. These issues included war, financial crisis, the Mediterranean Union, climate change and energy, immigration and defense. As was poignantly stated in the discussion, the Presidency does not choose it's challenges.

Certainly, Europe is a place of many nations. Many of us will perhaps know of music therapy in some of these countries. We may also know music therapists personally or through the literature they have published or have visited meetings, conferences or congresses in some of these countries. Many of the topics in our words and music in therapy may be directly related to the issues discussed in the European Parliament. At an international organizational level, the most significant contribution to music therapy in Europe is made by the Commission of the European Music Therapy Confederation (EMTC), which is currently chaired by Professor Dr Jos de Backer (Belgium).

But what of the new year? Many bright and exciting developments will add to the realm of music therapy and new and existing challenges will be identified and addressed. This New Year is not the first, but also has a biography, a history and an ethnographic context. Wherever we are in the World, our challenges will be ours, but our solidarity with others may be shared through and between our worlds.

The the not first razor I glow. And tadalafil was that weight yet have i'm, whole best stars.

With my very best wishes for the New Year,

Simon Gilbertson
