I am very excited to be the North American Liaison for the World Federation of Music Therapy! I am looking forward to connecting with music therapists around the world and sharing news from North America.

Fall marks the beginning of new semesters of study at North American colleges and universities. There are currently six schools that offer music therapy programs in Canada. Unfortunately, admissions at the University of Windsor have been suspended as of September 8, 2011 (http://www.uwindsor.ca/music/musictherapy). In the United States, seventy schools offer degrees in music therapy. In addition to coursework, music therapists may find renewal at continuing education events. Upcoming dates for conferences based in North America are listed below. I wish each of you a rewarding and refreshing autumn!

Upcoming events:

  1. •October 22, 2011: Music Care Conference, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario (www.room217.ca)
  2. •November 5, 2011: Music Therapy Association of Ontario Annual General Meeting and Conference, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario
  3. •November 16- 20, 2011 American Music Therapy Association Annual Conference, Atlanta, Georgia (www.musictherapy.org)
  4. •February 18, 2012: International Online Music Therapy Conference
