Dear Colleagues,I can feel the excitement building as we continue to plan and to prepare the 2014 World Congress in Vienna/Krems, Austria. The papers have been submitted, reviewed, and accepted; flights and hotel rooms are being booked; and maybe you are dreaming of making new memories with your friends and colleagues from all around the world at this exciting event. While all these wonderful plans are underway, there has been a great deal of work behind the scenes. The WFMT Council has been busy reviewing the WFMT Bylaws, finalizing the contract and beginning the transition for the new WFMT Webmaster, and processing renewed memberships. While it is not always obvious, there is a great deal of work that happens behind the scenes as the Council continues diligently to do the work of the WFMT.This work that occurs behind the scenes is now brought to the forefront as we bring this information to the WFMT membership. While the WFMT Council does work hard on these tasks, we cannot accomplish all of this work alone. The WFMT is a membership of music therapy organizations, associations, professionals, and students, and we need each one of you in order to be a successful international organization. Now is the time we call you into action. We ask that you consider nominating a candidate for a position on the WFMT Council, becoming involved through expressing an interest in serving as a member of one of the commissions, and by attending WFMT events like the upcoming World Congress of Music Therapy. Our organizational members will be reviewing the revisions to the WFMT Bylaws, and in July at the WFMT General Business Meeting, we will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed revisions. So you see, while the WFMT Council works diligently behind the scenes, we now bring the efforts to you, the members, and ask for your assistance in the process. The work of the WFMT is not accomplished by the Council alone; we need you to be an active agent in the process to complete the work.Working together we can achieve great things. I hope you will heed the call to action and join in the process of completing the work of the WFMT. Your time, efforts, and investment in the WFMT are invaluable. With great expectations,Annie Heiderscheit, Ph.D., MT-BC, LMFTInterim President of the World Federation of Music Therapy
