PRESIDENT PRESENTS December 2018

Greetings to you as I write the final ‘President Presents’ for 2018!

This year it has been very special to meet so many music therapists around the world, many of whom are working hard to establish standards and to gain recognition for our great profession.

In my role as WFMT President, I have had the privilege of visiting many countries including Italy, Russia and Turkey to present the activities of the WFMT and to discover more about the pioneering work of music therapists as well as of professionals from related disciplines.

I am pleased to present some of the events and activities which are on our minds at the moment, all designed to strengthen and promote our profession so that globally, more people can benefit.

Call for papers for the 16th World Congress of Music Therapy (2020)

“The Polyrhythms of Music Therapy” is the theme for the 16th World Congress of Music Therapy. The venue is the University of Pretoria, Tshwane, South Africa, 7th – 11th July 2020.

The call for papers is already active. You can find all the information about the theme and the broad areas that will be addressed in the congress here, and the abstract submission can be found on the 16th World Congress of Music Therapy site.

Plan to submit a paper of your latest work and attend the congress. It is a good way to stay connected, meet new music therapists and to share your work with other colleagues – and to visit a wonderful, vibrant part of the world where music is such an integral part of life.
