HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE, attended the awards ceremony to present the prizes for a new initiative - The Princess Haya Awards for Special Educational Needs.
All special schools were invited to nominate staff from their schools who did exceptional work in their areas. These covered awards for Best: Teaching Staff; Occupational Therapists; Speech and Language Therapists; Psychologist; Physiotherapist; Specialist Teachers; Administration; Finance; Centres; Employee of the Year and Projects.
HRH Princess Haya is a great supporter in many ways of the Centres for Children with Special Needs and without her patronage and support, Dubai and the UAE would indeed be a less 'special place'.
(Results of the competition were published in all local newspapers after the event 13/04/09).
