July 5, 2016 is #WorldMTDay2016, a chance to celebrate the profession of music therapy worldwide and to promote advocacy efforts across the globe. This year, we invite you to join us in singing a song written by Mr. Declan Suddaby, as part of the celebration: Music of the World (lyrics and chords here). Keep an eye on WFMT's Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts for more information as the date nears!https://youtu.be/p9f00SmRZX8About the composer: Declan Suddaby is a musician from Malton in the county of North Yorkshire, UK who specializes in performing and songwriting. He was asked by the WFMT Regional Liaison for Europe to write a song for WFMT's first World Music Therapy Day, and the finished result is called Music Of The World. When writing the song, he wanted to convey how music can be a universal tool for helping people face and overcome their problems in life. He thought that this would translate very well to the goals of the WFMT.Declan, who deals with Autism, has stated that music has helped him multiple times when he has found life difficult, and that music therapy was crucial in his development as a person, as well as a musician. Therefore, when he was given the opportunity to compose this song, it was easy for him to express in words how he felt about his experience with music therapy.
